QWIC Customer Case: Gender- and neurodiversity through objective candidate evaluations

About QWIC

QWIC is a fast-growing light electric vehicle brand based in Amsterdam, the Netherlands. They develop, manufacture, and sell innovative electric bicycles for urban commuters.

Founded in 2006, QWIC counts 104 team members from all across the globe today. Their ultimate dream: A city without cars.

Challenge: Objective evaluations

In Q4 2020, QWIC started searching for a solution to help them remove bias from their screening and interview process. As a result of only having a resume to evaluate candidates on, but also for the hiring managers to prepare the interview with, QWIC felt their screening was too much directed by biases, rather than objective insights into someone’s strengths and weaknesses. On January 1st 2021, QWIC kicked off with Equalture.

Hiring process with Equalture

How QWIC has integrated Equalture in their hiring process for their hires in Sales, Customer Service, HR/Office, and IT Infrastructure.

STEP 1. TEAM ANALYSIS

QWIC let their teams complete Equalture’s neuroscientific games to reveal strengths, weaknesses, and cultural traits, determining their hiring needs.

STEP 2. GAMIFIED ASSESSMENT

After candidates apply, they all receive an automated email to complete Equalture’s games, assessing their cognitive abilities, personality, and behaviour.

STEP 3. SCREENING + INTERVIEW

Candidates are not only evaluated on their resume, but moreover on their games scores. Also, the hiring managers prepare interviews based on the game scores.

The results: 18 hires in 6 months, of which 44% are female

A word from Sil Bartlema, HR Manager at QWIC

”Equalture is a great tool to debias your hiring practices. It provides us with an objective overview of a candidate’s qualities and behaviour, right at the start of the hiring process. Also, they provide us with LinkedIn info and interview guides for hiring managers, which supports us in making the right selection.”
