VodafoneZiggoโ€™s Volume Recruitment team handles the recruitment activities for the Customer Facing Teams, which include contact center staff, retail employees, and technicians. For Recruitment Team Lead Erna Dezaire, efficiently and successfully assessing a large number of applicants is key. “You need to evaluate and hire many candidates in a short time, so having a strong selection tool at the start of the process is crucial,” explains Erna.

Implementation

The implementation at VodafoneZiggo started with an internal benchmark to identify competencies that are needed to succeed for their roles.ย A group of high-performing employees completed Equalture’s game-based assessment; based on the results of this analysis, VodafoneZiggo and Equalture together determined the cognitive and behavioral benchmarks for the open roles.ย 

At VodafoneZiggo, Equalture is introduced right at the beginning of the recruitment process. As soon as a candidate applies through the career page, they immediately receive a link to take the games. Candidates complete a set of games that represent the competencies that have proven to be crucial for success in that particular role. Only candidates who complete the assessments successfully move forward to personal contact with a recruiter.

Clear insights in what competencies predict top performance

Erna highlights the effectiveness of Equaltureโ€™s data-driven approach to continuously finetune competency profiles and become smarter over time. “The Equalture platform continuously reviews the performance of the hired candidates. Specifically, the platform identifies patterns between the performance of hires and their results on the game-based assessments. This helps us continuously learn which competencies truly drive success in each role.

We have done this already for more than 150 hires this year. A surprising example was learning ability, which initially wasnโ€™t included in VodafoneZiggoโ€™s internal competency framework at all. However, when comparing our colleaguesโ€™ job performance to their performance in Equaltureโ€™s games, this competency turned out to be the most crucial one for success.”
